From March to September, only gentle shaping and maintenance cuts are generally allowed on hedges, including in your own garden, and only when no birds are nesting in the hedge. Plan a heavy cutback or the removal of a hedge for October to February. Anyone in Zittau who wants to remove a large hedge or cut it back heavily generally needs a permit from the city.
